7 Tips to a Healthy Morning Routine
Starting a healthy morning routine doesn't have to be over complicated. It’s important to start small and progress your routine to have everything you want. When you’re starting a new habit or lifestyle, adding too many things at once can over complicate your goals and often lead to stress. Instead, keep it simple and easy. Creating healthy habits in the morning will lead to a positive impact on your day.
Wake up at the same time
Waking up at different times every day can be off putting for your schedule. You want to aim to wake up every morning at the same time and to be consistent with it. Over time this will improve your sleep quality and give you balance. If you have problems with hitting snooze, try setting your alarm across the room.
Drink water
A healthy habit to start your mornings with is a glass of water. This is going to help rehydrate your body after sleeping so many hours with no water. You can keep a glass of water next to your bed so that you have access to water right when you wake up.
Limit screen time
Avoid checking your phone right away when you wake up. Instead, maybe try reading a book, a devotional, or even listen to a podcast. This will set the tone for your day and cause less stress.
Relax
Start a calming morning with journaling, mediation, or even breathing work. This helps with calming your body and emotions. Meditation will help clear your headspace and breathing work helps relaxation. Journaling can help get you in the right mindset for the day. Try prompts like “What is something I’m grateful for?” or “3 things to get done today.”
Exercise
Move your body. This doesn’t have to be a full hit workout or a few mile run, you can do something simple such as stretching or yoga, going for a walk or run, or even a bodyweight circuit. This helps people feel productive about their day and increases energy levels.
Shower and get ready
Getting ready will jump start your day and make you feel ready. A warm shower will increase your blood flow and relax your muscles. This will wake your body and your mind up. If you want even more energy, try ending your shower with 30 seconds of cold water. This will then stimulate circulation and give you an extra boost of energy.
Eat a healthy breakfast
Eating a healthy breakfast in the mornings will fuel your body, stabilize your blood sugar, and boost your energy. Three things to add into your breakfast should be a source of protein, a healthy fat, and a carb. Examples that you can add into your breakfast plan is fruit, eggs, Greek yogurt, avocado, nuts, and oats.
